I revisited this charming little hill 48 years after I watched a school friend of mine cycle up it. At the time, and ever since, I was certain that it was beyond my capability. Then I thought – how do I know until I try? So I tried and I got up it.
In truth it's brutal with the only small consolation being that the seriously steep bit is only 500m. The road itself (if you get a chance to look up!) is not particularly pretty but the reward is worth it it if, like me, you're on a MTB. From the top turn slightly left through the gap and then immediatley right sign posted 'Beacon car park'. From there it's another 200m of vertical elevation to the summit with a view across the Evesham plain to the east and the Welsh borders to the west.
