Sometimes the surroundings make more of an impression than the climb itself. It's nothing more than false flat with a bit of venom in the bend, so it's easy to do. But if you are in the area, I would definitely drive there. A narrow road through the hamlet of Helle with a few cottages and farms set in greenery. Then another open stretch and the next moment you are surrounded by trees and bushes and ending among farmland.
Soms maakt de omgeving meer indruk dan de klim zelf. Het is niet meer dan vals plat met in de bocht ff een stukkie venijn, dus makkelijk te doen. Maar als je in de buurt bent zou ik er absoluut heen rijden. Een smal weggetje door het gehucht Helle met een paar huisjes en boerderijen gelegen in het groen. Dan weer een open stuk en het volgende moment ben je omsloten door bomen en struiken en eindigend tussen het boerenland.
Nice alternative that I use to get from Nuth to Schimmert. Very quiet and much nicer than via the provincial road. The climb is easy and only a bit heavier just after the sharp bend when you leave Helle. Last part you cycle between the open fields. On rainy days, the road here can be covered in mud from agricultural vehicles, something to take into account!
Leuk alternatief die ik gebruik om van Nuth naar Schimmert te raken. Erg rustig en veel fijner dan via de Provinciale weg. De klim loopt rustig en is enkel wat zwaarder net na de scherpe bocht als je Helle uitrijdt. Laatste gedeelte fiets je tussen de open velden. Op regendagen kan de weg hier wel besmeurd liggen met modder van landbouwvoertuigen, iets om rekening mee te houden!
A nice climb where a large part of the road barely climbs, but which leads through a beautiful valley with a stream. Once you turn right between the houses, the slope increases significantly but it is still not too bad. Although you feel the road clearly climbing. After you have left the hollow road follows a piece between grassland / farmland with nice views to the rear.
Een leuk klimmetje waarbij een groot deel van de weg amper geklommen wordt, maar die wel door een mooi dalletje met beekje voert. Zodra je rechtsaf tussen de huizen omhoog gaat neemt de helling sterk toe maar dan valt het nog steeds mee. Al voel je de weg wel duidelijk klimmen. Nadat je de holle weg hebt verlaten volgt nog een stuk tussen grasland/akkerland met naar achteren leuk uitzicht.
