Short but definitely powerful. Here - especially in the first part - you really have to work hard. The climb does level off but you can still feel those first 200 metres. At a group of houses is the end of the climb. Reasonable tarmac, green surroundings and nice views to the rear.
Kort maar zeker krachtig. Hier mag je - zeker in het eerste deel - echt flink aan de bak. De klim vlakt wel af maar die eerste 200 meter laat zich nog wel voelen. Bij een groepje huizen is het eind van de klim. Redelijk asfalt, een groene omgeving en fraaie uitzichten naar achteren.
A gourmet snack in the Aubel/Val-Dieu area, where there are dozens of climbs to choose from. To take with you when you explore this area or if you are passing through between Slenaken and Hervé or the Vesdre.
Not as heavy as Rullen-Brabant or La Clouse, but still worthwhile. And in a quiet, beautiful environment like many climbs around Val-Dieu.
Een kuitenbijter versnapering in de wijde omgeving van Aubel/Val-Dieu, waar tientallen beklimmingen zijn en iedereen zijn/haar gading kan vinden. Om mee te nemen als je deze omgeving verkent of als je op doorreis bent tussen Slenaken en Hervé of de Vesdre.
Niet zo zwaar als Rullen-Brabant of La Clouse, maar blijft zeker de moeite waard. En in een rustige, fraaie omgeving zoals vele beklimmingen rond Val-Dieu.
Nice climb, quite steep in the beginning (shift down in time, especially if you have to turn left from the valley), but that doesn't last long. View from behind over the valley of the Berwinne is beautiful. Good asphalt and quiet little road.
Leuk klimmetje, behoorlijk steil in het begin (tijdig terugschakelen, met name als je linksaf moet slaan vanuit het dal), maar dat duurt niet lang. Uitzicht achterom over het dal van de Berwinne is prachtig. Goed asfalt en rustig klein weggetje.

A beautiful environment though. The Val-Dieu is extremely versatile when it comes to cycling: whether you like the big plate to the top cycling or just strong calves, something for everyone here.
Door het profiel lijkt hij lastiger dan hij eigenlijk is. Vlak voor de klim terugschakelen, en wachten met aangaan wanneer het je bij het huis en de rechterkant komt.
Wel een schitterende omgeving. Het Val-Dieu is enorm veelzijdig als het op fietsen aankomt: of je nu graag op de grote plaat naar boven fietst of juist krachtige kuiten hebt, voor ieder wat wils hier.
I cycled it myself just after Rullen-Brabant up, because it is a 'Mur' I had high expectations of it, but it was actually not so bad. The beginning is very steep but that lasts only a short time compared to Rullen-Brabant.
That does not take away from the fact that it is a very nice climb, and on a quiet road with a nice view so definitely take it.
Heb deze zelf net na Rullen-Brabant omhoog gefietst, omdat het een 'Mur' is had ik er hoge verwachtingen van, maar hij viel eigenlijk wel mee. Het begin is erg steil maar dat duurt maar kort vergeleken met Rullen-Brabant.
Dat neemt echter niet weg dat het een erg leuke beklimming is, en op een rustig weggetje met een mooi uitzicht dus zeker even meepakken.
