First 500m is very steep, so I made a mistake. You blow yourself up if you start too fast, because after the hairpin bend, there is another short steep section. The message is to dose it well.
Eerste 500m is zeer steil, waardoor ik me wat vergaloppeerd had. Je blaast je helemaal op als je te fel begint, want na de haarspeld bocht, komt er nog een kort steil stukje. Goed doseren is de boodschap.
Very tough first part: it is very steep and the crowds in the peak season do not help. Also the tarmac is pretty poor. Nice to do because we stayed above the wall and it is so steep, but because of the traffic I would not immediately drive around for it.
Zéér pittig eerste deel: het is enorm stijl en de drukte in het topseizoen helpt niet meteen. Ook het asfalt ligt er best matig bij. Leuk om doen omdat we boven de muur verbleven en het zo steil gaat, maar door de verkeersdrukte zou ik er niet meteen voor rond rijden.
From the center of Durbuy you turn right up this wall. The road is steep and you better find a good pace right away because you will have to keep it up for 600 meters. Halfway up the climb there is an intersection, turn left here so you can take the hairpin bend. If you take the slightly sloping right turn, you are on the spur after the top. The best time to do this climb is best 'morning, then it is still quiet in Durbuy. After noon it can be busy with the tourist train. This climb is good to combine with the Côte de Petite-Somme, which is certainly not to be missed.
Vanuit het centrum van Durbuy draai je deze muur direct op. Je ziet de weg direct steil oplopen en je vindt best direct een goed tempo want je zal het 600 meter moeten volhouden. Halverwege de klim is er een kruispunt, ga hier naar links zodat je de haarspeldbocht neemt. Als je de licht schuine bocht naar rechts neemt ben je op de uitloper na boven. Het beste moment om deze beklimming te doen is wel best 's morgens, dan is het nog rustig in Durbuy. Na de middag kan het er druk zijn met o.a. het toeristentreintje. Deze beklimming is goed te combineren met de Côte de Petite-Somme, die zeker niet te missen valt.
