Steep climb made extra challenging by the cobbled road surface. In wet weather, your rear wheel can easily slip, so staying in the saddle is key. The road is fairly car-free, although there is still parking after the Spanish Gate; the Spanish Gate is very narrow, so if there is a car in front of you, there is a good chance you will have to dismount to wait until the car is completely through the gate.... read more

A short, very steep climb through the heart of Luxembourg City. The climb starts near the Alzette (turn right, Rue Sosthène Weis is on the left). There's only cobblestone, but it's not too rough. First, you pass the Spanish gate, where the path becomes narrower. You pass a second portico (less impressive than the Spanish gate) towards the end of the climb. The climb ends on the Feschmaart, just in front of the National Museum of Archaeology, History and Art, a very pleasant little square with cafés and bars. There's little traffic but lots of people, and of course people stop in front of the doors to take photos.
