Golasecca can be reached from Ticino via SP27 (Via Europa and known as "Persualdo") or from the hamlet of Coarezza di Somma Lombardo via Via Prato Secco or Via N. Sauro. Both share the part of the road leading from Coarezza to Golasecca. The first option is the most challenging as the road branches off from the towpath over the Ticino River and with steep gradients up to 17-18% leads into the historic centre of Coarezza. Then turn left and continue along the road that leads to Golasecca. After a flat section the road rises for 200m at 10% to enter the forest and become less challenging until the Golasecca cemetery with gradients between 4 and 6%. I had actually proposed to the web masters that the climb should continue to Mount Tabor, but evidently the flat dirt track on the hill made them cut the last part of the climb, which gave an extra touch of difficulty to an ascent that is certainly not to be counted among the most challenging in the area.

Very hot climb, not too difficult and starts at quite a pleasant location.

A short climb from the Ticino towpath up to Golasecca. The first section, just past the Pio restaurant, is quite hard, with an average gradient of 10% (also indicated by the sign), but in the final 50 metres it reaches much higher figures.
Once in Coarezza the road flattens out and then rises again in the climb towards Golasecca with pedalable gradients. I often do this after work, it is a good workout.
