My favourite ascent directly on Lake Orta. Regular ascent to 7/8% with many switchbacks one behind the other that make the climb more enjoyable. A climb that lends itself to being done well and also hard.
Wonderful view from the belvedere!
If you want to make it tougher, once you have arrived at Quarna Sotto go up to Alpe Camasca!
Great climb from Omegna to Quarna Sopra, with little traffic and fine tarmac!
The first stretch from Omegna to Quarna Sotto is really even at around 7/8%, which makes it easy to get into a pleasant rhythm.
Only the very last bit, from Quarna Sopra to the end, is very steep (above 10%).
Not on this specific route, but I would recommend looking for the viewpoint in Quarna Sopra, which offers stunning views of the lake (Lago d'orta) and the Mottarone.
