Indeed a challenging climb, especially if you come from sea level, like me from Varazze. After Alpicella it is tough with stretches of 12%. Road surface partly good, partly bad but doable with road bike with 25mm tyres. Unfortunately, the inn at the summit is temporarily closed. Descending to the other side (Sassello / Urbe) is no fun. Very bad road surface; a risk for your equipment and for your back.... read more

A lovely climb with a wonderful view. It can be made more challenging by starting from Varazze It provides some excellent elevation gain. Most of the road is shaded and has extremely nice tarmac but the final 4km have terrible tarmac. While it is not too bad and doesn't pose any risk uphill, it is extremely strenuous and risky on the descent. At the top there is a refuge where you can fill your bottles.
This climb can also be done in summer due to the shade from trees, but I would not suggest going on a hot day.
The center section is very pleasant with a wide road and very nice asphalt

Splendid climb that is definitely worth a diversion. The gradients are very challenging, often in double figures. The asphalt is good on the ascent considering the mountain road, totally disastrous on the descent to the other side. Gravel and stones to be afraid of getting hurt or punctured. As anticipated, the view is worth the difficulty of the road. An uphill restaurant as you enter a beautiful forest, not seen fountains instead

Challenging climb, but definitely worth doing! From sea level you reach the 1287 m summit. The last few kilometres have a bumpy road surface, but the passages through the forest and the view of the sea overshadow them. Between spring and early autumn, the refuge is open, where you can stop for a snack and recover your energy.
In winter, it is possible to climb up and find enchanted landscapes with snow just a few steps from the sea.

Winter ascent of Beigua for me in early January on a beautiful sunny day. Questionable asphalt in many places but magnificent passages through the woods of the mountain with even a fawn sighting this time 😊. Arrived at the summit, wonderful views above the clouds!
