The climb was part of the 5th stage of the 2026 Giro d'Italia. The race classifies it as a Category 2 climb (perhaps because of its length), but Climbfinder rightly considers it a Category 1 climb. It seems even the Elite riders are struggling! The good thing is that if the Giro passes through, the road gets often resurfaced beforehand and is therefore in great condition. The climb was part of the 5th stage of the 2026 Giro d'Italia. The race classifies it as a Category 2 climb (perhaps because of its length), but Climbfinder rightly considers it a Category 1 climb. It seems even the Elite riders are struggling!
The good thing is that if the Giro passes through, the road gets often resurfaced beforehand and is therefore in great condition.
A short path leads you up to the top of the mountain, where the Santuario della Madonna di Viggiano is situated, offering a superb view of the surrounding area.
