The perfect alternative to climbing the Kemmelberg if you are not a fan of cobbles. I give both the cobbled side and this one 5 stars because of the setting, the gradients and the recognisability of the races run here. Indeed, this side is often used as the downhill but is definitely worth climbing too. The start in the Beukelaarstraat is already very beautiful and once you come between the trees in the Klokhofweg it certainly can't be beat. Just pay attention at the intersection with Lettingstraat. Be sure to have some energy left for the last 200 metres too!

The only climb in Flanders where I didn't get on top. I just couldn't get my pedals to turn and my heart rate was at 193, really hard.

Nice alternative for those who want to avoid the cobblestones.
