La côte démarre sous le pont franchi par l'autoroute A8. Après environ 500 mètres, on quitte la nationale pour s'engager sur une petite route étroite où la pente est la plus raide. Sur la gauche, peu avant le sommet, ça vaut la peine de s'arrêter pour admirer le calvaire de Mainvault.
