Right in the streets of Saint-Léonard the climb starts, with a very steep part. After the buildings the climb goes downhill for a while. The trail passes right under the viaduct of Echinghen, which hovers at this spot high above the valley. As the climb is very easy at this point you can easily enjoy the view. Finally, there's the viaduct that you can see from a distance on several climbs in the surrounding area!
A certain elegance.
I learn from Léon that this climb was used during the 2012 Tour de France. They have good taste. Two short, intense walls interspersed with a calmer section during which you can enjoy the viaduct.
Not bad!
And the Tour will be in Boulogne again this year.
When you reach the Herquelingue sign, be aware that you've still got the toughest 200 metres to go...
One of my favourites around Boulogne.

A small mention worth, in 2012 was this climb in the full final of the Tour de France won by Sagan.
