The most striking and fun part of this climb is in the beginning... provided you like wet tyres and tiny roads because after a ford (bumpy so pay attention) it is immediately a nice steep climb on a small and winding road to the main road. Turn left here where the slope continues almost as steeply to the church. You continue following the main road with a few bends through the village where the percentage does decrease sharply.
You can avoid the ford via a small footbridge (a few metres away), or take the road south of it but then you also miss the first steep section.
