Single track road is quite broken up and gritty at the start but excellent tarmac beyond the cattle grid where the route enters the open mountainside. Similar to the ascent via the south (The Grim) but with much easier gradient. Single track road is quite broken up and gritty at the start but excellent tarmac beyond the cattle grid where the route enters the open mountainside. Easy climbing so enjoy the views - Berwyn Mountains, Arenig, Eryri (Snowdonia), Clwydian Hills.
