This is typically a pass that, if you look at the average gradient, doesn't pose any major problems, but the difficulties lie in the last 4-5 kilometres, which are frankly very tough. If you can look up, the scenery in the Bernese Oberland is absolutely magnificent, and there's total peace and quiet as soon as you leave the main road.... read more

Begins nicely along the stream with refreshing amounts of shade. Gradient ramps up significantly in the last few kilometers as you emerge from the woods. Excellent climb on small roads with a very pretty descent. Easily connected with other climbs in the area (Jaun, Col de la Croix, etc)

A less scenic climb than from the other side, but nicely sheltered in the woods. It is a long road, which only gets slightly steeper at the end.

A beautiful pass sheltered from traffic. The last 3-4 kilometres sting, but the scenery is magnificent.

Lots of cows and cow grills on the descent to Jaun.
