The ascent of the Mirador de Segària starts off rather gingerly, with the first few kilometres at moderate gradients and a road surface that is just okay. Ideal to get into the rhythm and wake up the legs.
But don't be fooled... once you turn right, everything changes. The road immediately pulls briskly uphill and the climb gets a lot spicier. You ride through a beautiful, rugged hilly landscape that makes the effort more than worth it.
Towards the summit it really gets hard work: the road surface deteriorates sharply and the gradients easily reach double digits. Here it is all about showing character and persevering.
At the top, the reward awaits: an aerial station and, above all, a breathtaking view of the region. Absolute enjoyment!
The descent? That one is a different story... the poor road surface makes you have to be careful and technical riding a must.
Beklimming Mirador de Segària 🚴♂️
De beklimming van de Mirador de Segària begint vrij gemoedelijk, met de eerste kilometers aan matige stijgingspercentages en een wegdek dat nog net oké is. Ideaal om in het ritme te komen en de benen wakker te schudden.
Maar laat je niet misleiden… eens je rechts afslaat, verandert alles. De weg trekt meteen stevig omhoog en de klim wordt een pak pittiger. Je rijdt door een prachtig, ruig heuvellandschap dat het afzien meer dan waard maakt.
Richting de top wordt het echt werken: het wegdek gaat er sterk op achteruit en de stijgingspercentages lopen vlot op tot in de dubbele cijfers. Hier is het karakter tonen en doorbijten.
Boven wacht de beloning: een antennepost en vooral een adembenemend uitzicht over de streek. Absoluut genieten!
De afdaling? Die is een ander verhaal… door het slechte wegdek is het opletten geblazen en technisch rijden een must.
