Super route - 6km of climbing fun on a good road surface, wide 2-lane carriageway (vehicles can pass easily) and with a gradient that never hits double digits. The upper part, where the road hugs the mountain side, with a deep drop off to the valley on the left, is well worth the ride up. Super route - 6km of climbing fun on a good road surface, wide 2-lane carriageway (vehicles can pass easily) and with a gradient that never hits double digits. The upper part, where the road hugs the mountain side, with a deep drop off to the valley on the left, is well worth the ride up. There is a fast descent off the top across wild, open, moorland although, unlike the climb up, there are patches of rough tarmac and some potholes to watch for. The surface is worse after the cattle grid where the moorland ends but enjoy a flying 5 km descent up to that point.
