A nice and varied climb from the RWTH university grounds towards the center of Aachen (is therefore also a good crossing from the west). The first part of the climb is a cobblestone road along an old farmhouse and a chapel, while in the run up the enormous and bizarre Klinikum (Uniklinik) towers up on the right. Then a tarmac cycle path climbs in two steeper steps to the bridge. The first part of the bridge (Melatener Brücke) still slopes slightly, the second part is flat and then follows a slightly uphill path along a park and through a residential area.
Een leuke en gevarieerde klim vanaf het RWTH-universiteitsterrein richting het centrum van Aachen (is dus ook een prima doorsteek vanuit het westen). Het eerste deel van de klim is een al stijgende kasseienstrook langs een oude boerderij en een kapel, terwijl in de aanloop er voor rechts het enorme en bizarre Klinikum (Uniklinik) omhoog torent. Daarna een asfaltfietspad dat in twee steilere stapjes naar de brug klimt. Het eerste deel van de brug (Melatener Brücke) helt nog lichtjes, het tweede deel is vlak en daarna volgt er nog een licht stijgende weg langs een park en door een woonwijk.
