The really steep bit comes first and is soon over, so the climb doesn't feel too bad as long as you pace the effort. After dense tree cover the road is among open fields and hedgerows, high above the adjacent coast. Expect holiday traffic in summer. The lane is not too narrow however. The nearby climb of Trentishoe Hill from the same start point is harder, with what feels to be a much longer section of very steep gradient
