The first 200 metres run steeper uphill. Logical! After all, this route ticks off the same number of altitude metres as the Lüdenscheidsingel, but over a shorter distance. However, it is never painful.
It does take you out of your rhythm regularly: despite the relatively quiet location in residential areas, you regularly have to watch out for motorised traffic which has to yield to the right.
Tip: feel free to skip the last part of the climb (the part after the right-hand bend). Instead, follow the left-hand road to the Stadsvest, turn right (towards the bridge over the Leuven ring road) and then turn left at the traffic lights. That way, you'll end up at the foot of a much more enjoyable and well-known climb: the Wine Press.
De eerste 200 meter lopen steiler omhoog. Logisch! Dit tracé tikt namelijk hetzelfde aantal hoogtemeters aan dan de Lüdenscheidsingel, maar dan over een kortere afstand. Pijnlijk wordt het echter nergens.
Je wordt wel geregeld uit je ritme gehaald: ondanks de relatief rustige ligging in woonwijken moet je toch geregeld uitkijken voor gemotoriseerd verkeer waaraan je voorrang aan rechts dient te verlenen.
Tip: je kan het laatste deel van de klim (het gedeelte na de rechtse bocht) gerust skippen. Volg dan liever links mee naar de Stadsvest, sla rechtsaf (richting de brug over de Leuvense ring) en rijd vervolgens linksaf aan de verkeerslichten. Op die manier kom je aan de voet terecht van een veel leukere en bekendere klim: de Wijnpers.
