Normally I don't like dead-end climbs, but I'll make an exception for this one. Constantly steep, so find your pace and push. From Grindelwald (Grund) pure 12 km climbing with ascending profile from yellow, orange, red to black. So will your feelings.
After hotel Aspen only local motorized traffic is possible!
After the lift station Holenstein it flattens out and you can recover. Possibly at the point where for hikers with children a 'station' has been arranged with water tap and 3 alpine horns (definitely try with your last air). Prepare yourself there for 2 km at least 4 km black piste in the meadows where the cowbells ring and the marmots dive away. At the top, a very large terrace to relax at 2202 m with view on the Eiger, the Mönch, and the Jungfrau (-joch) and the other 4K-plus summits. Descent indeed requires much concentration. Count on about 3 hours there and back.
As a day trip from Interlaken to opt.

Descent is along the same road back (of course) and is quite tiring by the constant braking.
