Zooo my experience ... what can I say about it . Truly BEAUTIFUL CLIM but not if it comes unplanned in front of your wheels with +- 1400 altimeters in the legs. Because a police car closed the road from schin op geul towards Valkenburg because of a car on fire. Result; 2 kilometres of PINE and constantly thinking when this gem of a gravel climb will end. Feels as tough as the Vaalserberg. And I find that quite a challenge because there you also have the necessary metres in your legs....
But fair is fair this climb would get 5 stars if I could enjoy it a bit more.
1 plus: my only road bike is a ghost gravel racer with an 11-34 gear. So the right tyres and gearing for this inappropriate climb. For now 4 stars
Zooo mijn ervaring... wat zal ik er over zeggen . Werkelijk PRACHTIGE KLIM maar niet als die ongepland voor je wielen komt met +- 1400 hoogtemeters in de benen. Omdat een politieauto de weg afsluit van schin op geul richting Valkenburg wegens een auto die in lichterlaaie staat. Resultaat; 2 kilometer lang PIJN en continue de gedachte waneer deze parel van een gravelklim nou eens eindigt. Gevoelsmatig even zwaar als de vaalserberg. En dat vind ik al een hele kluif omdat je daar ook al de nodige meters in de benen hebt..
Maar eerlijk is eerlijk deze klim zou 5 sterren krijgen als ik er wat meer van kon genieten.
1 pluspunt: mijn enige racefiets is een ghost gravelracer met een 11-34 verzet. Dus de juiste banden en gearing voor deze ongepaste klim. Voor nu 4 sterren

Cyclists can best turn left into the (unpaved) Dodemanweg at the transition to unpaved road surface; after 400 metres you will arrive at a junction where the Keutenberg and Dodemanweg from Wijlre also end and where there is also a catering establishment. Gravelers, on the other hand, can continue straight on to Ingber.
Absoluut een prachtige langlopende klim die in feite parallel loopt aan de steilere en kortere Keutenberg. Asfalt is in goede staat (hoewel wel veel split in het midden van de weg). Zoals andere collega fietsers ook aangeven houdt het asfalt na ongeveer 2 kilometer op. Andere recensenten verwijzen naar een afdaling rechts, maar deze lijkt mij totaal ongeschikt voor wielrenners en ook wel erg uitdagend voor gravelbikes. Daarnaast fiets je dan tegen de richting van de bewegwijzerde Margraten Mountainbike route in, dus zullen tegemoetkomende klimmende mountainbikers waarschijnlijk 'not amused' zijn met tegemoetkomende afdalende wielercollega's. Wielrenners kunnen bij de overgang naar onverhard wegdek volgens mij daarom beter LINKSAF de (onverharde) Dodemanweg inslaan; na 400 meter kom je dan op een kruising uit waar de Keutenberg en Dodemanweg vanuit Wijlre ook op uitkomen en waar ook een horeca-gelegenheid ligt. Gravelers kunnen ook rechtdoor de Luijtenweg (die vervolgens overgaat in de Kinkenweg en daarna de Struchterweg) volgen tot Ingber.
Nice climb. But the dirt section was worse than expected. Lots of (big) stones, where before it was more of a dirt track.
Mooie klim. Maar het onverharde gedeelte lag er wel slechter bij dan verwacht. Veel (grote) stenen, waar het voorheen nog meer een zandpad was.
A beautiful, very quiet climb from Schin op Geul, parallel to Keutenberg. Not as heavy as the latter, but make no mistake in the first 800 m. Then enjoy the scenery.
Pavement turns into good rideable dirt after the climb. In the forest edge descend to the Scheulder climb.
Een prachtige, heel rustige klim vanuit Schin op Geul, parallel aan Keutenberg. Niet zo zwaar als laatst genoemde, maar vergis je niet in eerste 800 m. Daarna van landschap genieten.
Verhard gaat over in goed berijdbaar onverhard na de klim. In de bosrand afdalen naar de Scheulder klim.
I took this one after a couple of big guys but I forgot that the first part of this climb is regularly in the double digits. So I had to work hard. After the first part (800 meters with a 7％ average) the climb flattens out and we can enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Unfortunately, there was a lot of corn growing now so the view will be even better in other seasons.
The climb continues a bit longer on tarmac (was towards the end covered with sand and grit, but there is a clean track) namely until the edge of the forest. From there it is (turn right) only 400 meters over good gravel to the nice and steep climb to Scheulder.
Ik pikte deze mee na een paar grote jongens maar ik was even vergeten dat het eerste deel van deze klim regelmatig in de dubbele cijfers zit. Dat was even aanpoten dus. Na het eerste stuk (800 meter met 7％ gemiddeld) vlakt de klim af en is het genieten van de fraaie omgeving. Helaas groeide er nu wel veel mais dus in andere seizoenen zal het uitzicht nog mooier zijn.
De klim loopt iets langer door over asfalt (was tegen het eind wel wat meer is bedekt met zand en gruis, maar er is wel een schoon spoor) namelijk tot aan de bosrand. Vandaar is het (rechtsaf slaan) maar 400 meter over goede gravel naar de mooie en pittige klim naar Scheulder.
A beautiful gem with serious gradients and a nice spur. The road turns into a dirt road which is easy to do with a racing bike.
Een mooi juweeltje met serieuze stijgingspercentages en een mooie uitloper. De weg gaat over in een zandweg welke met een racefiets goed te doen is.
