De klimmen rondom Bernkastel-Kues en Traben-Trarbach zijn prachtig. Ik ben dan ook een enorme fan van bosrijke omgevingen.
A climb with a rather long run-up, which incidentally goes through a beautiful valley. Few views, you are mostly surrounded by wooded slopes. After crossing the stream after Kautenbach, it suddenly gets a lot steeper. Nothing startling but then you realise that you were climbing the kilometres before anyway. The road follows a nice route out of the valley with some nice hairpin turns. After reaching Longkamp, you expect the gradient to decrease but the road keeps cheerfully climbing until the end. In the various villages (except Longkamp) sometimes moderate tarmac. The through road that forms the remaining part is a lot better.
Een klim met een wel heel lange aanloop, wat overigens wel door een fraai dal loopt. Weinig uitzicht, je bent vooral door beboste hellingen omringt. Nadat je na Kautenbach de beek bent overgestoken, wordt het ineens een stuk steiler. Niet opzienbarend maar je merkt dan dat je de kilometers ervoor toch ook wel aan het klimmen was. De weg volgt een fraai traject het dal uit met enkele mooie haarspeldbochten. Je verwacht na het bereiken van Longkamp dat de helling wel af zal nemen maar de weg blijft vrolijk tot het eind doorstijgen. In de verschillende dorpen (behalve Longkamp) soms matig asfalt. De doorgaande weg die het overige deel vormt is een stuk beter.
