Extremely busy, but the tarmac wasn't too bad to my impression. Percentages were so-so, not really tricky around here. Cars were pretty neat with overtaking. Nevertheless, a once but never again experience. Flashbacks to the Haute-Levée. You do it for LBL, but otherwise don't do it. Traffic ruins it and makes it tough.
Uitermate druk, maar het asfalt was niet al te slecht naar mijn indruk. Percentages waren zo zo, niet echt lastig hierom. Auto’s waren vrij netjes met inhalen. Desalniettemin een eens maar nooit weer ervaring. Flashbacks naar de Haute-Levée. Je doet ‘m voor LBL, maar verder niet doen. Verkeer verpest het en maakt het zwaar.

One of those famous cols that you really shouldn't do. They drive so fast and so close to you that it even feels dangerous to drive up on the protruding tarmac, and make no mistake, it is not there for you. This is now the second time I have climbed it and again we were almost run off the road by some sports cars and their incompetent drivers who seemed to be looking more at the dashboard than at the road. Avoid an accident and take the climb on the left (Mont Lecresse via Château de Gomzé) if you really have to go up.
Zo een van de bekende cols die je echt niet moet doen. Ze rijden hier zo hard en rakelings langs je door dat het zelfs gevaarlijk voelt om op het uitstekende asfalt omhoog te rijden, én vergis u niet, dat ligt er niet voor u. Dit is nu de tweede keer dat ik hem beklim en ook nu werden bijna van de baan gereden door enkele sportwagens en hun incompetente bestuurders die meer op de teller op het dashboard leken te kijken dan op de baan. Vermijdt een ongeval en neem de klim links (Mont Lecresse via Château de Gomzé) als je echt omhoog moet.
Did not know he is / was in L-B-L, came coincidentally on my route and that I have known. Tight climb, but extremely busy. Also once ridden down, those curves are crazy.
Wist niet dat ie in L-B-L zit/heeft gezeten, kwam toevallig op m'n route en dat heb ik dan weer wel geweten. Strakke klim, maar ontzettend druk. Ook een keer naar beneden gereden, die bochten zijn wel leip.
Les Forges is actually a classic of Liège-Bastogne-Liège, which returns this year. For decades, this slope was the last of the course, after the famous Redoute.
It's a wide road and a rather tricky climb, with unfortunately a lot of traffic.
At the top there is a statue in honour of the Belgian Stan Ockers (world champion in 1955 and winner of the Flèche Wallonne and Liège-Bastogne-Liège).
Les Forges is eigenlijk een klassieker van Luik-Bastenaken-Luik, die dit jaar terugkeert. Decennialang was deze helling de laatste van het parcours, na de beroemde Redoute.
Het is een brede weg en een nogal lastige klim, met helaas veel verkeer.
Aan de top staat een standbeeld ter ere van de Belg Stan Ockers (wereldkampioen in 1955 en winnaar van de Waalse Pijl en Luik-Bastenaken-Luik).
If all goes well, this climb will be the penultimate one in Liège-Bastogne-Liège this year, between the Redoute and Roche-aux-Faucons. I'm curious!
