Short and explosive 2 kilometers climb. Lookalike to the hardest Valonian "cotes".
It reminds me a lot to La Redoute, but Leaburu is even harder. The start is very explosive with steep 500 meters. A short break going through a rondabout and the road gains a steady inclination again.
It hasn't been very used in the proffesional cycling as the only race I remember there was the 1999 edition of the Basque Country tour. The french Laurent Jalabert dominated the climb along with the italian Davide Rebellin (we miss him badly) and the dutch Michael Boogerd, who fell of on the descent to Tolosa (where it was the finish line).
It is the climb that I know better because I live in the bottom of it.
Totally worth climb in my opinion.
