This climb from Las Norias up to Las Manchas or San Nicolas is a real slog. With its 4.69 kilometres and an average gradient of 7.3 percent, you can expect a real "ordeal." The pass is brand new asphalt at the start. The entire road was built in record time after the volcanic eruption in 2021 as a new connecting road. The steepest ramps await you here. There are still few plants and trees all around at the moment, everything is very bare and the wind can also affect you here.
As soon as you reach the old section of road, it becomes more level again. Beautiful young palm trees have been planted to the left and right of the road. Due to the old section of the climb, the data on the pass does not necessarily show how hard it really is at the start.
This pass is an important link between the two already completed lava roads back to the LP-2, which is currently still buried by lava, so if you are travelling from Los Llanos or Tazacorte towards the south of the island, there is currently no way around this climb.
