Beautiful climb. Unfortunately it is little known and signposted, but for those who like hairpin bends it is the best.

This unique feat of road construction with 18 hairpin bends, stacked one on top of the other and closely following each other, is a must-see. The winding course of the route and the panoramic view of the valley make you barely feel the 8％ average ascent.

Of je nu alleen de Lacets op fietst tot Montvernier of als voorspel naar de Col du Chaussy maakt niet uit.
Dit unieke staaltje van wegenconstructie met 18 haarspeldbochten,op elkaar gestapeld en kort op elkaar volgend,moet je gefietst hebben. Het kronkelend verloop van de route en het panoramisch zicht op de vallei zorgen ervoor dat je de 8％ gemiddelde stijging amper voelt.

Un classique de la Maurienne, même si la pente est assez rude et soutenue l'ascension n'est pas très difficile grâce aux très nombreux lacets qui permettent de relancer l'allure et de souffler.
Le Tour de France y est passé mais la route était interdite, même aux spectateurs.
Il existe une vidéo de cette montée filmée par un drone, sur Youtube je crois.
Spectacular climb, not particularly hard but unique, for the hairpin bends so close together. The only flaw, the big road to reach it, not beautiful and very busy.

continue to 2 roundabout (with large bike)
exit signposted A43 Lyon/Pontamafrey/Zone industrielle
of course do NOT cycle onto motorway but keep right on Route des Contamines
always straight on until foot Lacets.
> from La Chambre : cycle out towards the foot of the Col du Glandon
turn left onto D74 direction St.Marie de Cuines/Pontamafrey
always straight on with at the end 2 short tunnels going under motorway and expressway
and you are at the foot of the Lacets

A great serpentine road just for bikes. A real must!! The climb is rather short compared to the other mountain giants in the area and relatively easy to ride.
Eine tolle Serpentinenstraße nur für Fahrräder. Ein echtes Muss!! Der Anstieg ist im Vergleich zu den anderen Bergriesen in der Umgebung eher kurz und relativ leicht zu fahren.
By far the best climb I've done! The hairpins follow each other in rapid succession, so you quickly gain height. The views are beautiful, especially if you look down over the edge every now and then and see the amazing pattern below you! Be sure to turn left to the Col du Chaussy when you reach the top of Montvernier!
Verreweg de leukste klim die ik heb gedaan! De haarspeldbochten volgen elkaar in rap tempo op, waardoor je snel hoogte maakt. Het uitzicht is prachtig, zeker als je af en toen over het randje naar beneden kijkt en het geweldige patroon onder je ziet! Sla vooral links af naar de Col du Chaussy, als je boven in Montvernier bent!
This climb is an absolute must. Not so much by the climb itself which is doable, but by the road which is glued to the rocks. Many consecutive hairpin bends. magnificent views into the valley.
Deze klim is een absolute must. Niet zozeer door de klim zelf die goed te doen is, maar door de weg die tegen de rotsen is aangeplakt. Vele opvolgende haarspeldbochten. schitterend uitzicht de vallei in.

Als je in de buurt bent, is dit absoluut een klim die je mee moet pakken! De leukste die ik ooit heb gedaan. In razend tempo volgen de haarspelden elkaar op. Het is de voorloper van de Col de Chaussy, een wat langere klim, maar bij weinig tijd is een heen en weertje op de Lacets alleen al de moeite waard. Big smile guaranteed! De klim is ongeveer 3,5 kilometer lang en niet al te steil. De weg is uitgehouwen in een muur van steen. Absoluut een aanrader!

3 days we were only in the region. After fighting the Galibier (and mostly myself) the first day, I really didn't want to pass up this iconic climb. Because I had little time to spare (still recovering from the Galibier, but especially the rest of the family who wanted to go out), I decided to just do a loop of this climb that descends from Montvernier via Hermillon and then goes along the river l'Arc back to the start. Less than an hour, but very nice to see the hairpin bends in all their glory. If you have more time, you can of course take the Col du Chaussy.
3 dagen waren we slechts in de regio. Nadat ik de eerste dag de Galibier (en vooral mezelf) had bestreden, wou ik deze iconische klim echt niet laten liggen. Doordat ik weinig tijd kon voorzien (nog herstellend van de Galibier, maar vooral de rest van het gezin dat er op uit wou trekken), besloot ik om gewoon een loop te doen van deze klim die bovenaan Montvernier via Hermillon terug afdaalt en lans de rivier l'Arc terug naar de start ging. Minder dan een uurtje dus, maar wel heel erg mooi om de haarspeldbochten te zien in al hun glorie. Indien meer tijd, neem je er uiteraard de Col du Chaussy bij.
