A very beautiful, demanding climb with no traffic. The quality of the road is good from May to November.
Stop off at the "Ptit Bar" (halfway up the route) for refreshments or just to admire the view of Mont Blanc.
In any case, do it once (at least ;-) ).
Very little traffic, road under the fir trees. At the start of the season, there were a lot of stones and debris on the road, but it was no problem for a road bike.
The ascent of the Baudichonne is very difficult, for a first I would remember.
It prepares well for the Grand Colombier.
Difficult climb which leaves no time for recuperation. No traffic at all. Beware : the most difficult part of the climb (2 last km) comes after the farm, so keep some strength for the end. At the top of the climb, there is a small gravel path which is doable with a normal racing bike an which leads to the mai road to Les Rousses or Mijoux.
Climb done on August 31th
Short but steep, pieces up to 13%.
When you reach the farm, you are not at the top, so keep going. Do the short decent and a final short 13% climb to reach the real summit of the col.
No cars and hardly any cyclists there. Be careful on the decent, there is some gravel and occasional rocks on the road.
Enjoy!

A formidable climb with its last kilometre to cut your legs off... without any car, impeccable surface, in the forest and much more demanding than the Sickle (and without the traffic...). Indeed the Gravel allows the loop not the combe blanche which also deserves the diversions with the cherry by Vesancy.
Short but efficient climb! No car !
The only drawback is that if you have a road bike, you'll have to turn back once you've reached the top, but if you have a gravel bike, there are plenty of possibilities... In particular, you can go back down by the Combe Blanche towards Divonne-les-Bains
