Very nice little climb. At the start you cross the stream and see the church with a nice ascending road in front of it. After the bend the road flattens out but further on it rises again to a clear highest point. The second part is in green and you don't notice much of the main roads. After the climb, a descent along the A50 after which you can cross the bridge or go under the bridge to the nice climbs towards Doorwerth. Good asphalt.
Heel mooi klimmetje. In het begin ga je over de beek en zie je de kerk liggen met daarvoor een leuk stijgende weg. Na de bocht vlakt de weg af maar verderop stijgt deze weer verder tot een duidelijk hoogste punt. Het tweede deel zit in het groen en van de hoofdwegen merk je weinig. Na de klim een afdaling langs de A50 waarna je over de brug kan of onder de brug door naar de mooie klimmetjes richting Doorwerth. Goed asfalt.
Along more than 500 years of history, you climb to the Rijnbrug, over the Heelsumse Beek and past ancient houses through a kind of idyll. But you do cycle right next to the A50 motorway, although you hardly see or hear anything of it. The prominent church belongs to Doorwerth Castle; the last owners (Baron van Brakell) are buried here. Beautifully hidden ascent and the best way to enter the Rijn bridge from the north.
Langs meer dan 500 jaar historie klim je naar de Rijnbrug, over de Heelsumse Beek en langs stokoude woningen door een soort idylle. Maar je fietst wel hemelsbreed pal naast de A50, al zie en hoor je daar bijna niks van. De prominente kerk hoort bij kasteel Doorwerth; de laatste eigenaren (Baron van Brakell) liggen er begraven. Prachtig verborgen klim en de mooiste manier om de Rijnbrug vanaf het noorden op te gaan.
