Beautiful climb but not suitable for road bikes in my opinion. Beautiful scenery but this is a climb that will make you decide to buy a gravel bike

Climbed in February with lots of mud and wet road surface. The Keutenberg, Eyserbosweg, Gulpenberg etc. are a piece of cake then compared to this climb.

My fifteenth climb of the day with Kromhagerweg, Eyserboschweg and Doodeman before that. Must be why I found this one the toughest of the day. Last stretch just before the good tarmac is really dirty steep. Done on road bike with 28" tyres. That was no problem, had more trouble with the percentages. Very nice climb though, felt like I was on MTB.

This steep climb looks like the very abbreviated version of the climb to the Grand Ballon from Geishouse: a total chaussée degradée making it a laze between holes and stones.

Nice climb but with heavy road surface. Doable for gravel bikes and road bikes with not too thin tyres. The start is asphalt but it soon turns into well-run gravel. At the picnic area (with nice views) keep left up the rough concrete road. The road surface remains concrete but this is very rough and feels heavier to ride than gravel. However, you do have good grip at all times and that's necessary because there are some tough sections coming up in this section. Sometimes beautiful views to the right but mostly you are surrounded by green. At the end you have to push hard (partly on good tarmac again) and then you are at the top.

This is the rougher equivalent of the Groenendalsweg on the other side of the Gulp: steep, quiet and through beautiful countryside. A nice change from the well-known variants in the area.
You climb along and through a forest edge to Crapoel, where you can take the Panoramaweg to Heijenrath or Gulpen. The stretch of gravel turns into poorly maintained, rough concrete road surface. It's sledding uphill among foliage, but with the percentages, high speeds are an illusion anyway. The climb can be done by road bike with 28'' or wider tyres.
