The climb is quite pleasant, there are no surprising increases in gradient, you can maintain a nice steady pace. The surface at the beginning is asphalted, later changing to cobbled. After leaving the urban development, we ride among trees, so on a sunny day we have shade to cool down. At the summit, a very cool panorama of Vienna awaits us, a bas-relief of the troops of the Battle of Vienna, a monument to the Polish king Jan III Sobieski, who in 1683 rushed to the aid of Austria and helped tip ... read more

I started the climb from Nussdorf, after skirting the Danube, so it begins to climb for over a kilometre before reaching the charming village of Grinzing. I really wanted to do this climb as I've often been to Vienna and always stayed in these districts at the foot of the Kahlenberg. The climb itself isn't difficult if you're in reasonable physical condition and cycle regularly. Be careful on the way down, as the cobbles are not always in good condition. At the top, there is a beautiful view of the city of Vienna.
