The Averses Valley - what a valley! It seems magical, somehow forgotten for centuries. The route climbs leisurely - except for a middle section between Cröt and Cresta - to the mountain village of Juf, the highest year-round inhabited settlement in Europe. For a long time, the Avers Valley was isolated by the gorge of the Avers Rhine and could only be supplied via the high passes in the south. Excellent climb - starting from Thusis makes for a great circuit. There are tunnels so take care and some lights, even though they are not really long, you are climbing and so slow - traffic was OK when I went. Listen for the Marmots screeching near the top.
Juf village has toilets and cafes so you can stop for refreshments before the run back down the hill. toilets at Andeer before the climb :)
