Beautiful surroundings with fine views and that's what you do it for. Plus a lovely cycle path. But an incline? Only very local. Oh well that's not bad, the surroundings offer plenty. Because of the beautiful views (most other cycle paths in this region are in the woods) an extra star.
Een prachtige omgeving met fraaie uitzichten en daar doe je het voor. Plus een heerlijk fietspad. Maar een helling? Slechts zeer lokaal. Ach erg is dat niet, de omgeving biedt genoeg. Vanwege de mooie uitzichten (de meeste andere fietspaden in deze regio liggen in het bos) een ster extra.
Signal Imbosch. It sounds like something mythical and grandiose. It is the highest point in the Veluwe and the highest point in the Netherlands outside South Limburg. Unfortunately, you notice almost nothing of that on this climb. Actually, I only noticed the bike path going up in the middle (between km 1.4 and 1.8). No, you do this climb for the views. And that is absolutely worth it. With large wooded areas, vast golden heaths and occasional views of landscapes kilometers away, you keep looking around. I rode here on a Monday and it was quiet. I think when the weather is nice in the weekend it is full of all kinds of cyclists. If you have a gravel bike, you can also use the dirt road next to the bike path if you are not a fan of crowds. After the climb you may descend on a deserted tarmac road into the woods. Not bad.
Signaal Imbosch. Het klinkt als iets mythisch en grandioos. Het is het hoogste punt van de Veluwe en het hoogste punt in Nederland buiten Zuid-Limburg. Helaas, daar merk je bijna niks van op deze beklimming. Eigenlijk merkte ik alleen op het middenstuk (tussen km 1.4 en 1.8) dat het fietspad een stijgende lijn had. Nee, deze klim doe je voor het uitzicht. Dat is dan ook absoluut de moeite waard. Met grote bosgebieden, uitgestrekte goudkleurige heidevelden en af en toe een uitzicht op landschappen kilometers verderop blijf je hier om je heen kijken. Ik reed hier op een maandag en toen was het rustig. Me dunkt dat het met mooi weer in het weekend vergeven is van de fietsers van allerlei pluimage. Als je een gravelbike hebt, kun je dan ook de onverharde weg naast het fietspad gebruiken mocht je niet zo'n fan zijn van drukte. Na de klim mag je over een uitgestorven asfaltweg dalen in het bos. Niet verkeerd.
