I rate this climb the best of the several short ascents up the northern edge of Salisbury Plain in this area. The views across the chalk downland, and down to the valley of the River Avon, are immense. To get the best out of this climb turn right where the Climbfinder route ends and extend it by a further 1.25 km / 43 m. I rate this climb the best of the several short ascents up the northern edge of Salisbury Plain in this area. The views across the chalk downland, and down to the valley of the River Avon, are immense. To get the best out of this climb turn right where the Climbfinder route ends and extend it by a further 1.25 km / 43 m. The surfaced road then ends and becomes a gravel track - if riding a gravel bike / MTB you can continue on and ride across to the Westbury White Horse (if not it's turn around and back down to the B3098).
