Nice slope. When you get to the top you are on the Sven Nys Cycling route, which you can ride in this region. Unfortunately, it does not include this climb. Note that sometimes cyclists from the other side come down at breakneck speed.

Mooie helling.

The easier way to climb the Houwaartberg. Via the narrow road, which begins to meander halfway up, you reach the top of the hill. You have to be careful there: the colleagues from the other side (Kriesberg) often come down with a rocket speed ... That is the disadvantage of this climb compared to the Wall of Houwaart.
Maybe I should choose the big boy after all :-)

Today I did this alternative route of the Houwaartberg for the 50th time and for me it is definitely in the top 5 of the many climbs in the Hageland.
It starts very quietly but in the S-curve it gets really steeper but still fun. A real gem in the first open part and then a piece of hollow road and at the top rewarded with a beautiful view.

One of the nicest climbs in the Hageland and much more pleasant than its super steep brother which I do at least once a week. If you drive towards the Muur van Houwaart, you have to turn right for the alternative route of the Houwaartberg, a narrow road that at first rises very slowly, but after the first turn to the right it goes up considerably. Be careful in the double S-curve because it is narrow and you do not see the oncoming traffic. The area is a true cycling paradise.
At the top you can turn right or go straight on. In the immediate vicinity are many other nice climbs.

Smaller brother of the steeper and heavier Houwaartberg.
Narrow road so watch out for oncoming traffic.
