Not too difficult climb on the main road from the hamlet of Kathagen past Vaesrade towards Amstenrade. Until past the church it is false flat. Then you see the steepest 200 metres of the climb ahead. The last bit flattens out again.
Niet te moeilijke klim over de doorgaande weg vanuit het buurtschap Kathagen langs Vaesrade richting Amstenrade. Tot voorbij de kerk is het vals plat. Daarna zie je de steilste 200 meter van de klim voor je liggen. Het laatste stukje vlakt weer af.
The treacherous thing about the climb is that at first you don't realise it is a climb. It starts out a bit false flat, slowly the percentages increase. You ride on the paved fiesta path which is not very nice. You want to maintain your pace but you can't and your legs fill up. It's more than just a little kink after all.
Het verraderlijke aan de klim is dat je in het begin niet doorhebt dat het een klim is. Het begint wat vals plat op te lopen, langzaam nemen de percentages toe. Je rijdt over het betegelde fiestpad wat niet echt lekker is. Je wil je tempo vast houden maar dat lukt niet en de benen lopen vol. Het is toch meer dan even een knikje.
Largely very relaxed climb. So relaxed that you hardly feel it. After Vaesrade you see the road suddenly in a nice curve against the slope upwards. That gives some cachet to this climb. The stretch before that is little more than a run-up route and the last part is again almost flat.
Grotendeels zeer relaxte klim. Zo relaxed dat je deze amper voelt. Na Vaesrade zie je de weg ineens in een mooie slinger tegen de helling omhoog lopen. Dat geeft dan toch weer cachet aan deze klim. Het stuk er voor is echter weinig anders dan een aanlooproute en ook het laatste deel is weer vrijwel vlak. Het tegelfietspad waar je over fietst is gelukkig wel goed gelegd.
