Most of this ascent is the Elspetergrindweg and lies in the heart of the "Kroondomeinen", the Valhalla of gravel hype. Although the Crown Estates are closed from 25 September to 25 December, this through road remains open. Even in wet periods, this road remains good rideable for a long time. It is also doable on a road bike with 28mm tyres (not the very worst). The false flat lends itself perfectly to better interval work. On the south side, you can also drive cars's way in to a parking area. Nearest catering in Hoog-Soeren (pancake restaurants). With the gravel hype and growing e-bike population, it has become busier, but the mostly 4-5 metre-wide road makes passing and crossing no problem.
A pleasantly quieter road than most cycle paths in high season.
Het grootste deel van deze beklimming is de Elspetergrindweg en ligt in het hart van de "Kroondomeinen", het walhalla van de gravelhype. Hoewel de Kroondomeinen van 25 september tot 25 december gesloten zijn, blijft deze doorgaande weg geopend. Ook in natte periodes blijft deze weg lang goede berijdbaar. Ook op de racefiets met 28mm banden (niet de allerslechtste) is deze goed te doen. Het valse plat leent zich uitstekend voor het betere intervalwerk. Aan de zuidkant kun je er ook een eindje met auto's in tot een parkeerplaats. Dichtstbijzijnde horeca in Hoog-Soeren (pannenkoeken restaurants). Met de gravelhype en de groeiende e-bike populatie is het er drukker geworden, maar de veelal 4-5 meter brede weg maakt passeren en kruisen geen probleem.
Een aangenaam rustiger weg dan de meeste fietspaden in het hoogseizoen.
