Although it is a beautiful climb on smooth tarmac you are relieved when you reach the top that the route can be resumed via quieter roads. That is a shame because the tarmac is good and the nature beautiful. The heavy traffic makes for 2 instead of 4 stars.
Hoewel het een prachtige klim is over goedlopend asfalt ben je eenmaal boven opgelucht dat de route weer via rustigere weggetjes kan worden hervat. Dat is zonde want het asfalt is goed en de natuur prachtig. Het vele verkeer zorgt voor 2 i.p.v. 4 sterren.
Long running climb on a large busy through road.
The forest where you cycle through is beautiful, but unfortunately a lot of exhaust fumes. In a round trip around the Rursee you can not avoid this climb.
Lange lopende klim over een grote drukke doorgaande weg.
Het bos waar je doorheen fietst is mooi, maar helaas dus veel uitlaatgassen happen. Bij een rondje rondom de Rursee ontkom je niet aan deze klim.
Yesterday I noticed that for MTB and gravel riders there is a forest road running parallel (exit Erkensruhr and then immediately left) that leads to Kamp Vogelsang.
Gisteren gezien dat voor MTB-ers en gravelers er een bosweg parallel loopt (afslag Erkensruhr en dan meteen links) die bij Kamp Vogelsang uitkomt.
Very busy road, where cars can't help but race right past you. Rock wall on one side and a guardrail on the other. I would try to skip this one, but there are few other options....
Hele drukke weg, waar auto's niet anders kunnen dan vlak langs je heen razen. Rotswand aan de ene kant en een vangrail aan de andere kant. Ik zou deze proberen over te slaan, maar er zijn weinig andere opties...
Beautiful surroundings, but unfortunately also a fairly busy road. The village Einruhr at the foot is 's summer very popular among day trippers. Fortunately, most Germans drive quietly and well around cyclists. The climb itself is not very exciting, moderate percentages over good running asphalt. After 4.5 km you are at the top, what follows is not much more. The former village of Wollseifen and camp Vogelsang are located up here. This was in the second half of the last century used as a shooting range. Along the road you can still see some remnants of this.
Prachtige omgeving, maar helaas ook een vrij drukke weg. Het dorpje Einruhr aan de voet is 's zomers erg geliefd onder dagjesmensen. Gelukkig rijden de meeste Duitsers rustig en ruim om fietsers heen. De klim zelf is niet heel spannend, matige percentages over goed lopend asfalt. Na 4,5 kilometer ben je eigenlijk wel boven, wat daarna nog volgt stelt niet veel meer voor. Hier boven liggen het voormalig dorp Wollseifen en kamp Vogelsang. Dit werd in de tweede helft van de vorige eeuw gebruikt als schietterein. Langs de weg zie je nog wat restanten hiervan.
