A nice but short climb from Gletsch. I first did the Nufenenpass from Airolo and through which I did the section to Ulrichen. That also means you have to drive from Ulrichen towards Gletsch and cover some altitude metres over a distance of 5 km before you can start climbing the Grimselpass. In Gletsch, the Furka steam train was waiting when I passed there. During the ascent, you also have a constant view of the Furka Pass and, of course, the Belvedere hotel/restaurant.
Een mooie maar korte beklimming vanuit Gletsch. Ik deed eerst de Nufenenpass vanuit Airolo en waardoor ik de afdeling naar Ulrichen deed. Dat betekent ook dat je vanuit Ulrichen richting Gletsch moet rijden en dat je over een afstand van 5 km. enkele hoogtemeters moet overbruggen alvorens je aan de beklimming van de Grimselpass kan beginnen. In Gletsch stond het Furka stoomtreintje te wachten wanneer ik daar passeerde. Tijdens de beklimming heb je ook voortdurend een zicht op de Furkapass en uiteraard op het hotel/restaurant Belvedere.
If you do this one in the familiar Susten-Furka-Grimsel round, it really is a 'breeze'. Not long and very even.
In my case, there was a strong wind blowing, which meant I had a headwind all the time and then a tailwind through the hairpin bends. Funny experience.
Als je deze doet in de bekende Susten-Furka-Grimsel ronde, dan is het echt een 'makkie'. Niet lang en erg gelijkmatig.
In mijn geval waaide er een harde wind, waardoor ik steeds en stuk tegenwind had en daarna weer meewind door de haarspeldbochten. Grappige ervaring.
End of September 2021 Tour from Reckingen via bike route +/- 12 km (Some km's gravel + open air museum) to the start in Oberwald. This is the easy side in terms of length a half Innertkirchen 1538 HM Oberwald 792 HM. One year can be very different. End of September 2020 pass 2 days closed due to snowfall. End of September 2021 no snow at all and nice weather. Pass up and down is also very popular with moto as many passes. (Unfortunately) In short Carnival, Horror, Halloween and Totensee you have it all in this route but not to be afraid, it is beautiful and not heavy. (also some cyclists)
Eind September 2021 Tour vanuit Reckingen via fiets route +/- 12 km (Enkele km’s grind + openluchtmuseum) naar het begin in Oberwald. Dit is de makkelijke kant qua lengte een halve Innertkirchen 1538 HM Oberwald 792 HM. Het ene jaar kan heel anders zijn. Eind September 2020 pass 2 dagen afgesloten wegens sneeuwval. Eind September 2021 helemaal geen sneeuw en lekker weer. Pass op en af is bij moto ook heel populair zoals zoveel passen. (helaas) Kortom Carnaval, Horror, Halloween en Totensee je hebt het allemaal in deze route maar niet om bang te zijn, hij is mooi en niet zwaar. (ook nog enkele fietsers)
The image when you descend from the furkapas and then see the Grimsel pass - you must have done that once! Don't think it gets any better in Europe.
On this side, the climb is very short, but full of hairpin bends. Magnificent!
het beeld als je van de furkapas afdaalt, en je ziet dan de Grimselpas liggen - dat moet je ooit gedaan hebben! Denk niet dat het beter wordt in Europa.
Langs deze zijde is de klim heel kort, maar vol haarspeldbochten. Schitterend!!
In the classic cycling tour Susten/Furka/Grimsel the climb starts as in the graph in Gletsch where you turn right halfway up the Furka descent.
If you start like me (August 2019) in Oberwald you have already climbed 6 km. wonderfully on the Furka before you turn left in Gletsch just before the iconic "Hotel Glacier du Rhone" to cycle up the 6 hairpin bends hanging like gutters against the rock face. View is indeed fantastic.
On top of the pass to lake you have hotel / restaurant and chapel.
Region with wonderful cycling opportunities. Stayed in Ulrichen at the foot Nufenenpas.
In het klassieke fietsrondje Susten/Furka/Grimsel start de klim zoals in de grafiek in Gletsch waar je halfweg de Furka afdaling rechts opdraait.
Als je start zoals ik (Augustus 2019) in Oberwald heb je reeds 6 km. wondermooi geklommen op de Furka voor je in Gletsch links afdraait vlak voor het iconische "Hotel Glacier du Rhone" om de 6 haarspeldbochten die als dakgoten tegen de rotswand hangen omhoog te fietsen. Uitzicht is inderdaad fantastisch .
Boven op de pas aan meertje heb je hotel/restaurant en kapel.
Regio met prachtige fietsmogelijkheden. Verbleven in Ulrichen aan voet Nufenenpas.
I have only descended along this side, but what an amazing view it is. If you climb along this side, you can enjoy it for an extra long time, so it can't help but be a wonderful climb.
Ik ben langs deze kant alleen maar afgedaald, maar wat een geweldig zicht is dat. Als je klimt langs deze kant, kun je er extra lang van genieten, dus dat kan niet anders dan een prachtige klim zijn.
