I will own up to submitting this one. People who know the road will be clutching their foreheads and swearing under their breath at this point, as the climb is emotionally daunting and very busy with traffic. Dead straight and a constant gradient after the roundabout. At least there's a crawler lane which allows the traffic to pass you. So why submit it in the first place? I will own up to submitting this one. People who know the road will be clutching their foreheads and swearing under their breath at this point, as the climb is emotionally daunting and very busy with traffic. Dead straight and a constant gradient after the roundabout. At least there's a crawler lane which allows the traffic to pass you. So why submit it in the first place? Well, if you go early in the morning or late in the evening the traffic problem is much reduced, and it's actually good to ride the length of the A355 into Beaconsfield to connect with routes south towards the Thames. Also, it's a good challenge to take on. There are more pleasant ways of getting to Beaconsfield from Amersham (via Coleshill or Winchmore Hill), and I will submit those climbs in due course, if nobody else does. But Gore Hill is sometimes worth a detour, in my view.
