Wonderful climb for me a surprise in the part after the passo croce domini. from breno you always climb with significant gradients the average is lowered by the last 2 km on falsopiano, otherwise it would be I think above 8%. Personally, as far as scenery is concerned, I prefer the ascent from bagolino, which offers wonderful views in the second part with gaver and the subsequent hairpin bends. from the croce domini pass, the dirt road begins towards the ex nato base and the giogo della bala. Irregular climb with flat stretches and a small descent interspersed with walls with gradients even in double figures. The landscape is wonderful...I would say almost lunar, it seems to be over 3000 metres not 2000 metres...the beauty of this stretch is a real surprise...At the top of the yoke there is the Dosso dei Galli with the gigantic radars of the former NATO base. The road to the base seems to me to be in excellent condition and I believe it is possible to climb up even if it is obstructed by some cement blocks at the entrance.
Beautiful climb, very quiet (at least when I was there). Actually consists of two climbs. The first one is paved until the Passo di Croce Domini. At the pass height you can eat, drink and rest. Then it goes on for about 6 kilometers unpaved. Last kilometer of the second climb is paved. If you continue, you also pass an abandoned radar station from the cold war. Quite a James Bond location content!
Flinke James Bond-locatie gehalte!
