One of the six short climbs at the edge of the centre of Aarschot starting with the steep wall on red cobblestones of the Vestingstraat. After a short flat ride across the wide traffic junction you continue the climb up the Geetsstraat and after the last houses you end up on the plateau in the middle of a green horticultural area.
On the whole route, only the cyclist is allowed to go up, but you have to watch out for oncoming descending cars (one-way streets)!
For me, the least interesting climb of the package there.
Eén van de zes korte klimmetjes aan de rand van het centrum van Aarschot die start met de steile muur op rode klinkers van de Vestingstraat. Na het even vlak over fietsen van het brede verkeerskruispunt klim je verder de Geetsstraat op om na de laatste huizen uit te bollen op het plateau te midden van een groene tuinbouwzone.
Op de hele route mag alleen de fietser bergop maar het is dus opletten voor tegenliggend dalend autoverkeer (éénrichtingsstraten)!!!
Voor mij de minst interessante klim van het pakket daar gelegen.
You start this climb with a real wall through the buildings of the Vestingstraat, after which you cross the intersection to conquer the spur of the Geetsstraat. Pay attention because for cars this is a one-way street and as a cyclist you have to swerve regularly for oncoming traffic. Especially the first part on the Vestingstraat is so narrow that it is sometimes advisable to drive up on the sidewalk.
Je start deze klim met een echte muur doorheen de bebouwing van de Vestingstraat, waarna je het kruispunt oversteekt om de uitloper van de Geetsstraat te bedwingen. Let wel op want voor auto's is dit een éénrichtingsstraat en moet je als fietser dus regelmatig uitwijken voor aankomend verkeer. Vooral het eerste deel op de Vestingstraat is zo smal dat het soms aan te raden is om even op de stoep naar boven te rijden.
Quite a heavy climb on the outskirts of Aarschot. It starts very steep when you drive from the Diestsestraat to the Kauterberg. You cross the Braekepoort (here less steep percentages) and then you take the Geetsstraat where it gets steeper again. After that it goes quietly to the end.
When you come at the end of the Geetsstraat, you can cross the ring road and ride in the direction of the Leideberg and the Rot where several hills are waiting for you.
Best een zware klim aan de rand van Aarschot. Het begint direct zeer steil op te lopen als je van de Diestsestraat de Kauterberg op rijdt . Je steekt de Braekepoort over ( hier even minder stijgingspercentages ) en dan neem je de recht voor u de Geetsstraat waar het terug steiler wordt . Daarna loopt het rustig uit.
Als je aan het einde van de Geetsstraat komt kan je de ring oversteken en zo richting Leideberg en het Rot rijden waar verschillende heuvels liggen te wachten .
