Excellent cycle path, though depending on the time of day you lave between many a student group to the top of the hill. The slope is never steep, but you make it as hard as you want. Ride it full throttle up, and you will regret it...
Tip: combine this "UCLL slope" with its little sister located along the Groeneweg (not yet added on Climbfinder) of campus SSH. To get there, drive left at the top of Gasthuisberg before descending to Terbank. Turn right at the traffic lights, then take the second right.
Uitstekend fietspad, doch laveer je afhankelijk van het tijdstip tussen menig studentengroepjes door naar de top van heuvel. De helling is nooit steil, maar je maakt hem wel zo zwaar als dat je zelf wil. Rij hem volle gas omhoog, en je zal het je beklagen...
Tip: combineer deze "UCLL-helling" met haar kleine zusje gelegen langs de Groeneweg (nog niet toegevoegd op Climbfinder) van campus SSH. Om daar te geraken rijd je bovenaan Gasthuisberg links om vervolgens af te dalen naar Terbank. Aan de verkeerslichten rechtsaf, en dan de tweede straat rechts.
This climb reminds me of my student days when several times a week I had to climb up on a rattling old women's bike (rusty chain/too big gears) for lectures and internships.
From the city center it goes via a wide cycle path gradually to the highest point of Campus Gasthuisberg of the University Hospital Leuven.
Starts with a straight run under the city ring followed by a slight right turn next to the large roundabout in the direction of Education/Navorsing. The route winds between the buildings and ends after the blood transfusion centre at the Rega Institute, world renowned for its covid research.
Deze klim roept nostalgische herinneringen op aan mijn studententijd toen ik meermaals per week op een rammelende aftandse vrouwenfiets (verroeste ketting/te grote versnelling) naar omhoog moest voor hoorcolleges en stages.
Gaat vanuit stadscentrum volledig via een breed fietspad geleidelijk naar het hoogste punt van Campus Gasthuisberg van het Universitair Ziekenhuis Leuven.
Start met een rechte aanloop de stadsring onderdoor gevolgd door flauwe rechtse bocht naast het grote rondpunt richting Onderwijs/Navorsing. Route slingert tussen de gebouwen om na het bloedtransfusiecentrum te eindigen ter hoogte van het Rega instituut,wereldvermaard voor covid onderzoek.
