A dead straight climb along the connecting road between Monschau and Roetgen, although this stretch of road runs entirely through Belgium. You cycle over an excellent asphalt cycle path (2 directions) left of the road. You can get to the start from Konzen or via the Vennbahn that crosses the road here. The whole climb is completely visible from the start, there are no shortcuts so you can go full speed up without surprises. A bit steeper in the beginning and then it goes on for a long time until the end. Quite a lot of traffic on the main road. After the climb there is a flatter part after which the long descent to Roetgen follows.
