I found the climb relatively boring. This is mainly due to the rather monotonous road that leads upwards in a gentle curve. There is also relatively heavy traffic. But certainly interesting from a climbing point of view.
Ich empfand den Aufstieg als relativ langweilig. Dies liegt vor allem an der recht monotonen Straße die in einer leichten Kurve nach oben führt. Zudem gibt es relativ viel Verkehr. Klettertechnisch aber sicher interessant.
The beginning between the houses is relaxed but as soon as you enter the forest it goes up very fast. There is a sign 8％ but that will be the average because the part after the sign is really steeper. So you really have to push. After the first hump there is a small valley before the real summit (but that one may not have a name anymore). Good tarmac in a dense forest, no views.
Het begin hiervan tussen de huizen is wel relaxed maar zodra je het bos ingaat gaat het heel hard omhoog. Er staat een bord 8％ maar dat zal het gemiddelde wel zijn want het stuk na het bord is echt wel steiler. Echt wel aanzetten dus. Na de eerste bult is er nog een klein dalletje voor de echte top (maar die mag dan geen naam meer hebben). Goed asfalt in een dicht bos, geen uitzichten.
In my rides through the Eifel this is often one of the last obstacles. I come down the Jägerhausstrasse and compared to the other climbs this one seems a small pimple on the height profile. This one always hurts. I turn left, in front of the ice cream parlour, and through the village it is not too bad. As soon as the road turns right, into the forest, the climbing starts. Once at the top, you get a short descent, but unfortunately a lot less than what you just climbed.
In mijn ritjes door de Eifel is dit vaak een van de laatse hindernissen. Ik kom de Jägerhausstrasse afgedaald en in verhouding met de andere klimmen lijkt dit dan een klein puistje op het hoogteprofiel. Dan doet deze toch altijd even goed pijn. Je slaat linksaf, voor de ijssalon langs, en door het dorpje valt het allemaal nog prima mee. Zodra de weg rechtsaf draait, het bos in begint het goed te klimmen. Eenmaal boven krijg je een korte afdaling, maar helaas een stuk minder dan wat je net bent geklommen.
