One of my favourites here, for a slightly longer ride combined with the voie verte as an impetus, to then ride up the Gedinne plateau from Givet/Ransenne via this climb. The climb is even, a "runner" and shady. Little traffic. Lots of options to ride over the ridge towards Monthermé.

From Givet and just after Fromelennes, you cycle over the Houille, which also marks the border between France and Belgium. The road rises considerably immediately and for 5.5 km, but it never gets very steep. Just before and just after the only hairpin bend are the steepest parts. The road is wide and yet not at all busy. You really are in a remote corner of Belgium here. The summit is at the customs office where the border used to be (before WWI), just before you enter Felenne.

Excellent two-lane course through greenery on which you can ride at a fine pace. Remarkably quiet indeed (on a weekday in my case), which is often my experience in this region.

'In winter I encountered only one car here, even though it is a wide road. In this environment, this road still reminded me most of the real mountains. You arrive at this climb via a scenic road along the border. Once (back) in Belgium, the road starts to climb. It never gets really steep. A nice climb to cycle through nicely. In summer, you'll probably cycle through dense forests. In winter, you can still see a bit between the trees.

Great job but many cars you come here not against. Road surface is good for a Walloon slope. Even climb that never gets really steep. Can you include from Givet in trip to the south where it is never flat
