Na de bocht naar rechts gaat het echt behoorlijk steil omhoog (je moet echt even flink trappen) en dat gaat best lang door, iets wat je niet snel verwacht in deze lieflijke omgeving. Als je de huizen ziet loopt de weg al vrijwel horizontaal.

Ook de (autovrije) vlakke aanrijdroute van Herzogenrath naar Ruif is landschappelijk mooi trouwens.
