4.0 by YetiJThe nicest place for a short ride starting in central Athens. The dead end nature means traffic is low, but with beautiful forests and views over the city. Good for intervals due to the steady gradient, with a fast but technical descent. 4 stars: aside from being a nice quiet road in Athens, with nice scenery, it’s not a climb that really wows. From the three main climbs around Athens, this one is my favorite. If you have only time to do one I would suggest this, although the other two (Penteli and Parnitha) are also worth it. The mountain is closer to the city and rises steeper than Penteli or Parnitha, therefore you get amazing views of Athens on one turn and then the imposing peak on the other. Although the mountain is small there is a thick pine forest which makes for a beautiful landscape. Careful on the decent as there are a lot of foxes that might try to cross during afternoon.
