Short/tough climb that already starts on the cycle path coming from Mechelen and then enters the built-up area of Epen. At the junction with Julianastraat you are at the top. You can extend the climb by turning right there onto Eperheide. Straight ahead you leave the village again with the option of going via Terziet towards Sippenaeken or via Terpoorten to the foot of the Camerig. Two stars for the climb but important as a connection to other climbing options.
Kort/pittig klimmetje dat al start op het fietspad komende vanuit Mechelen en vervolgens de bebouwde kom van Epen ingaat. Op de splitsing met de Julianastraat ben je op de top. Je kan de klim verlengen door daar rechtsaf Eperheide op de te gaan. Rechtdoor ga je het dorp weer uit met mogelijkheid om via Terziet richting Sippenaeken of via Terpoorten naar de voet van de Camerig te gaan. Twee sterren voor de klim maar als verbinding naar andere klimmogelijkheden wel belangrijk.
Small climb that is actually quite ok, but a bit annoying if you are mentally prepared for the bigger climbs in the region.
Kleiner Anstieg der eigentlich ganz ok ist, allerdings ein wenig nervig ist, wenn man sich mental auf die größeren Anstiege in der Region vorbereitet.
This is actually the longer approach to the climb to Eperheide if you come from Mechelen. Or a very short approach before you climb the Camerig.
Dit is eigenlijk de langere aanloop naar de klim naar Eperheide als je vanuit Mechelen komt. Of een heel korte aanzet voordat je de Camerig opgaat.
You think you can relax and cycle through the Geul valley to Epen, where you will be well rested for the big climbs, but just before Epen you see the road going up. So you have to push on, even if it's only a short distance.
After the church turn left in the direction of Eperheide. With this climb added to the climb you have over 100 altimeters. Or go straight down for the Camerig.
Je denkt even relaxed door het Geuldal naar Epen te fietsen en daar uitgerust aan de grote beklimmingen te beginnen, zie je net voor Epen de weg toch flink stijgen. Toch even aanzetten dus al is het maar een klein stukje.
Na de kerk linksaf richting Eperheide. Zit je met dit klimmetje er bij toch aan dik 100 hoogtemeters. Of rechtdoor afdalen voor de Camerig.
