A nice climb that for this region is quite steep through a forest and over reasonable to good tarmac. However, this climb has a strange disadvantage: the road of the climb is allowed for cyclists but the tarmac roads to the starting point are forbidden for cyclists (although this sign is ignored by local cyclists). Legal options are therefore to descend via the climbing road or to tackle it via singletrack from Kruishoefstraat (on the industrial estate). Normally 3 stars but because of the Belgian logic one star less ;-).
Een lekkere klim die voor deze regio best stevig omhoog loopt door een bos en over redelijk tot goed asfalt. Deze klim heeft echter een vreemd nadeel: De weg van de klim is toegestaan voor fietsers maar de asfaltwegen naar het beginpunt zijn verboden voor fietsers (al wordt dit bord wel genegeerd door lokale fietsers). Legale opties zijn dus om via de klimweg af te dalen of via een singletrack vanuit de Kruishoefstraat (op het industrieterrein) aan te rijden. Normaal 3 sterren maar vanwege de Belgische logica een ster minder ;-).
This logic has not existed for a very long time.Until a few years ago,when I was still a very active cyclist myself and could very often be found in this region close to where I live, and the current traffic situation was not yet an issue, it was still possible to simply ride up this beautiful slope.More than that, it often played an important role in cycling races and even served as the arrival location on several occasions.
Deze logica bestaat nog niet zo heel lang.Tot voor enkele jaren ,toen ik zelf nog een zeer actieve wielertoerist was en zeer vaak in deze regio dichtbij mijn woonplaats te vinden was en er van de huidige verkeerssituatie nog geen sprake was kon men nog gewoon deze fraaie helling oprijden.Meer nog ze speelde vaak een belangrijke rol in wielerwedstrijden en diende zelfs meermaals als aankomstlocatie.
